ADA elevator compliance / Completion 2007

Located at the northeast corner of the campus, the new elevator and lobby extension creates a visible entrance and new image for the Nursing Building.

The design is a response to existing conditions.  As the Nursing building is built on pile foundations, the new elevator structure was located on its own pile supports outside the building. This created the opportunity to re-orient the entrance within the narrow courtyard created by the large adjacent sports complex.  The new lobby is a transparent enclosure around a glazed tile elevator core. Interior alterations at the First and Second Floors connect the elevator to the existing building circulation.
