A colorful dental clinic in mid-Missouri / Completions 1974-92

Located in the upper floor of the bank building, the clinic overlooks the Fayette courthouse square.  High ceilings and exposed roof trusses, skylights, exposed brick walls, an open plan and use of primary colors were used to create a user friendly environment for Dr. Byland's innovative approach to dentistry that attracts patients from far away.  In an article for Dental Survey on the clinic design, he wrote:

"To avoid the claustrophobic cubbyholes so common to many offices, the operatories are separated by only shoulder high consoles.  In dental school this open design had provided moral support to apprehensive patients by showing that nothing being done needed hiding.  A lowered speaking voice and use of soft music gives necessary privacy"
